  1. Alfred Marquez says:

    3 facts people should know…

Fact 1: The Watchtower and Awake magazines are NOT the most popular magazines…. They are merely the most circulated.

Fact 2: Jehovah’s Winesses are required to mention that their worldwide work is made possible because of voluntary donations (before handing over these magazines at your door). However, most Jehovah’s Witnesses are too embarrassed to comply with this instruction and simply give these magazines away for free without mentioning anything about voluntary donations… So for the most part, these magazines are FREE !

Fact 3: Most people who take these magazines from Jehovah’s Witnesses simply throw them in the trash. They are NOT interested in reading these at all. The only reason they take these magazines (for the most part) is because they are, well… FREE… Also, it basically gets the Jehovah’s Witness off their door step a lot quicker so they could go back to enjoying their weekend.

Those are the facts… So to say that these 2 magazines are the most “popular” in the world is an inaccurate statement.

    • Ken Stred says:

What you are discussiong here is if people like reding the watchtower and awake not if they are popular.

For example Michael jordan is popular wether I like basketball or not, Bill Gates is popular wether I like microsoft or not.

The fact that you don`t like these magazines doesn´t mean they are not number one.

and one thing stop talking about Jehova´s witnesses practices. Seriously what do you know about their work?

    • Debbie says:

In case you hadn’t noticed these are 2 of the most downloaded mags..from online magazine
. software. So apparently, they are wanted. No one is at their door to try to “give them away.” You sound like you have a gripe with Jehovah’s witnesses. That’s fine, but at least you could have gotten your information correct before you voiced your opinion on the Most High God’s servants.
I used to feel the same way you do. But then I stopped listening to other peoples opinions, and decided to find out for myself and that was 26 yrs. ago. and the best thing that I have ever done in my life..

B.T.W. we are not required to do anything. It is suggested that if someone is interested that they could make a small donation towards the world wide work. I prefer to put enough monies in to cover the cost and then some. So that I can offer the Magazines to people at no charge.. Believe me I am not too embarrassed to ask for a donation if I wanted to.

Are you aware that there are at least 8 million J.W’s world wide???? That sounds to me like it would be a very popular download, If you don’t want the magazines please don’t take them.. Jehovah is only looking for people who want to live in paradise on earth, with no pain, no sorrow, no taxes, and free housing. But it doesn’t sound like you want that so why take a mag. Leave it for someone who would want to live forever in peace and harmony,

    • Robert de Jong says:

You come with a few statements, which you present as facts, here Alfred… But do you have proof of that? Otherwise these ”facts” are just your (and probably others too) ”oppinions”.

That is the contrast of the numbers which are presented black and white, every month by the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

These facts are by the way widely accepted, also on the Wikipedia, which is very critic of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. And that are facts that contradict your statement.

      Please… come again!

    • Simão Lúcio says:

      My dear friend,
Believe me, 7 milions of Jehovah Witnesses around the world wouldn’t do so much effort publishing, translating and distributing these two magazines just to break a world record.

      But the truth is:
      – 45 million copies of watchtower each month!
      – 209 languages translated!

There is no magazine that comes even close

      These are the real facts.

    • Paul says:

The definition of the word ‘fact’ is “A thing that is indisputably the case.”

It surprises me that you (Alfred Marquez) have given us readers three ‘facts’; in fact 2 you say that most JW’s are too embarrassed to ask for donations and give the magazines away free. You say in fact 3 that most people take them throw them in the trash.

I would like to ask you, Alfred Marquez, where is your evidence that supports these facts? Which parts of your three facts makes them indisputable?

Perhaps you should do some research and then report your findings here? These magazines aren’t for everyone but for you to publish these three inaccurate ‘facts’ is just a lie. I speak from experience of BOTH sides of the fence.

    • Heath says:

Response to your “Fact 1”: They are the most circulated magazines by nearly double the 3rd most circulated magazine. But they’re distributed for free. The printers, the workers, and everything that goes into the publishing of the magazines is done by volunteers, and funded completely by volunteer donations.

Response to your “Fact 2”: Completely not true. The Witnesses are NOT required to mention anything before handing you a magazine. You do realize that you just assumed to know how nearly 8 million people feel about distributing the magazines, don’t you? You literally have no idea how “most Witnesses” feel. Consider this: The funding isn’t the message the Witnesses bring to people, nor is it the reason why they show up at your door, place of business, malls, colleges, etc. An accurate knowledge of the Bible is the message they bring. The magazines are merely tools to help gain that understanding.

Response to your “Fact 3”: Again, you make complete assumptions. You literally have no idea what “most people who take the magazines” do with them, nor how they feel about them. Your fact is merely an emotionally charged statement containing no facts at all.

Can you point to any other organization on the earth that would (or does) carry out such a caring, selfless work on such a grand scale? The Witnesses volunteer their time and resources to encourage and TEACH people all over the entire earth to be better husbands, fathers, mothers, children, workers, etc., and to benefit themselves by applying Bible principles. For free.

    • Bill says:

Anyone can understand that these are not facts, They are rather your own polarised opinion.

I am a Jehovah’s Witness, I visit people, not in order to give away magazines, but to talk about what the Bible really teaches, to help them realise the importance of doing the right thing in the eyes of God. I could too spend the time i devote to this important activity drinking coffee at a park or on my balcony. But instead, I try, on my own expences, to help people understand how Bible’s principles can make ones life much much much better and lead to the true life.

I am also NOT required or embarrased to mention that these magazines are supported from donations. And noone does feel that way. These magazines ARE FREE for those who want to read them, and when someone does want to give a small amount for these he can do so. Otherwise I am very happy to support them, because I am very proud of this global preaching work.

I myself visit many people that take the magazines from me and read them. We discuss on these topics and they have told me many times that they appreciate them because of their deep and interesting articles. I always enjoy a good conversation with a thinking person. And here is the difference. If you personally take these magazines and throw them into the trash, then why take them? This shows that you actually don’t use your ability to think, rather you hate something you don’t know, or don’t agree with.
This is not curious, because Jesus himself told that, if he was persecuted and hated, his disciples would face the same attitude.

FACT is that these magazines are being read in 235 countries on the whole planet. They are even translated and published in languages that are being spoken from a max. of 1000 people in the whole world, something that, from a financial aspect, would be suicide. But this shows that the motives behind this preaching work are 100% pure.

Thus, this article is 100% accurate, whether you like it or not.

    • Juan Rodriguez says:

Wow!!! Most people who takes these magazines from Jehovah’s Witnesses simply throw them in the thrash!!! How much… about 20 million of these magazines simply throw away in the trash every month??That’s a milacre!!

    • TOMA! says:

Your an idiot . I bet your a bitter, old, lonely fellow. The value of their magazines is too much for ignorant people, like you to ever appreciate or see their value. The Bible talks about people like you.

      • Lee says:

May we all remember what the Bible also says about loving kindness – extended by our God regardless of who we are or what we do. I hope we can all reflect this in our replies as that is truly attractive and reflective of the message the magazines in discussion carry…

    • khadeejah says:

WOOOOOW, someone who have read the minds of 45 million people…I mean I’m assuming that’s how YOU know why people take them and what they do with them

    • hvarona says:

      opinios are not facts

    • Raphael says:

At least Jehovah’s Witnesses and Bible’s Students like them and we are millions around the around!!! Even people who aren’t Witnesses appreciate our magazines – on my own ministry from house to house I heard it!!!

So did you interview the most readers from our magazines? I don’t think so!!!

      and Ken Stred excellent example!!!

    • Greg says:

I would not even consider reacting about the famous Alfred Marquez statements, it seems like he has published a magazine and expected them to be in the top ten list and when realized it is not, was so disappointed that he decided to throw harsh words against the top 2 ones without even consider whether they are valid or not.

Great still, Ken, Paul, Debbie, Lúcio and Toma that you ve reacted.

    • bill underwood says:

Why are you so angry, Alfred? As long as you aren’t the person spending your gas money, spending hours in the hot sun, pouring rain, or freezing cold, trying to find someone who will be nice enough to let you read them a scripture, or at least accept, free, from you the magazines you contributed money to print, what do you care whether people throw them away? If even 1% of the people who accept them find one peaceful, encouraging thought that draws them closer to their creator, isn’t that a good thing? If you won’t read them in search for a cure for your anger, I hope you’ll at least seek help somewhere. I’d hate to read about you in the news, shooting at some schoolchildren…

    • Alexander Morales says:

As being a Jehovah’s Witness I can tell you that fact #2 is false, we are not instructed to tell you that voluntary donations makes this possible, however it does, and most of the money comes from the people within the congregations who serve Jehovah whole souled and give most of their time to working in the ministry

    • Delaino says:

Kind sir. Your comment is based on personal opinion and not facts. Perhaps you should verify the facts before embarrassing yourself any further.

    • jose jose says:

    • Henry Busby says:

Mr. Marquez I’m sorry that you have such a limited and false view of those seeking to do good in this wicked system. I’ve always sought a spiritual path but have also always been opposed to organized religion until I finally began studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses. I’m an unbaptized publisher, which means I am one of those who come knocking, and with everyone I’ve been out with doing the preaching work, all you have to say is that you’re not interested and we are on our way, so your weekend is not disturbed. There was a time when Witnesses asked a quarter for the magazines but they have not done that for decades. We ask nothing except if you take a magazine you read it. If you say you’re not going to read it then we won’t force it upon you. Plus the Watchtower and Awake magazines are also one of the most downloaded, which mean millions a month want them. So your facts are not facts at all.

I have always been a person that never just listens to what someone says and take it to heart without verification. Thankfully I’ve finally came to a point in my life where I could verify that a lot of what I “heard” about Witnesses is indeed unfactual. I’ve read the bible numerous times and have studied with others but this is the first time the Word has come alive for me. What Does The Bible Really Teach book has made my light grow brighter and along with the millions of downloads of the aforementioned publications, this also ranks among the top publication downloads in the world. Mr. Marquez your facts are not factual and I implore you to simply prove to yourself that they are not. Don’t simply believe, please verify.

    • Dennis Gilman says:

Typical reaction of one opposed to the religion. In my country, the Awake and Watchtower are the most read magazines. I am sure that you’re wrong that most persons just throw them away because on my way back home after placing them with persons I usually see many reading them. I almost see none thrown away and many of those thrown away are picked up and read by someone else. The person who picks it up often tries to return it and we tell them to keep it and read it.

I don’t usually mention the contribution, not because of embarrassment, but either I forget or the person is so interested, I don’t bother. Many give the contribution without my even asking.

    • Douglas Edwards says:

Fact 1: According to the authors of this article, The Watchtower and The Awake magazines are popular. How do you measure popularity?

Fact 2: Jehovah’s Witnesses are not embarrassed at all to comply with the given suggestions, yes they are suggestions. As Jesus said, this work will be accomplished. (Matt. 24:14)

Fact 3: There are actually people who can think, read and make rational decisions. These same people accept our magazines because they want to be informed about the world in which they live. All of the magazines have always been FREE and always will be, we simply give others, if they care to, the honor of making a modest donation of their own choosing. Logic would dictate that if the magazines were not popular nor well-read they would not be as widely circulated.

    • Kahty says:

To all though’s who lack doubt in our love for people, answer your door
Tomorrow. We are offering “Free Home Bible Education program., or
Bible Study “free”. Why not listen to them. I did!!! 46 years ago. It
Has saved my marriage, 50 yrs. in feb. the lost of two children, the
Face of surgery Without Blood three times. Jehovah has been with
Me all these yrs. as long as I have worked hard to be with Him, and
Followed the example of Jesus Christ.

    • Anderson Souza says:

Your arguments are not factual by some simple factors:
1 – The 3rd place magazine has a circulation of 22 million copies. Well, attend meetings of Jehovah’s Witnesses around 18 million people. Considering that most of these people read the magazines, that means the other 30 million people who receive the Watchtower and Awake! would not appreciate them, thats totally illogical. Not even if the rejection rate of Awake, the 2nd place, was 50%, your argument would be right.
2-90% of people who purchase any magazine rarely read the entire contents, but only a few articles. But that does not mean that they do not appreciate the magazine.
3 – The fact that something is free does not diminish anything, unless the point of view of a critic. Rather, it only increases the value of these publications, because as these free publications can be the most translated and largest circulation magazines in the world without ANY advertisiment or political relations? Despite being banned or difficult movement due to governmental and religious impediments in over 50 countries, some of them with large populations such as China and Russia, they achieve this level and only grows up. Remember, the content of which was not made to be POPULAR, they speak of the Bible, a book of thoughts totally unpopular as sin, miracles, etc.. Yes they have served their purpose and are extremely noteworthy, garnering the respect of ALL the publishing world, not little critics like you.

    • Bill M.E. Later says:

The author qualified what he meant by popular. He said it was based on “their respective circulation a variable which is reflective of their popularity.”

Popular – appealing to or appreciated by a wide range of people.

I happen to enjoy these magazines. My father also reads them. He calls himself a ‘dyed in the wool’ Episcopalian, still he loves to read the Watchtower and Awake magazines.

Keep up the good work Jehovah’s Witnesses.

    • Tim says:

I’ll bet you were foaming at the mouth while writing your little note.

Next time JW’s visit, ask them to put you on their “do not call” list. This is for people who do not want JW’s to visit them and/or those who are of a dangerous/threatening disposition.

JW’s are not looking for converts. they are looking for those favorably disposed in character and teachable – those who are wanting something better in life to hope and strive for – an existing Earth-wide brotherhood that transcends this world’s political, racial, economic barriers.

    • Nomi says:

Time may come when some people might wish they had taken time to read them.

    • Louie says:

Fact #1. You are absolutely right they are the most CIRCULATED magazines in the world yet one of the smallest religious groups in the world. Why is that? Because many people from other religions read them and express their gratefullness for them. Unquestionably some do get thrown away but the majority are read because Jehovah’s Witnesses go back and answer questions that they have about the magazines. Something they could not do if they didn’t read them. Jehovah’s Witnesses made just shy of 8 million such “return visits” in April 2011 just in the USA. They do the same work every month and around the entire globe. Quite a feat if I may say so. The religions of Christendum combined have made less than 1, despite Christ’s command.

Fact #2. You are absolutely right again, they are both totally FREE, not mostly free but totally FREE. Jesus said at Matthew 10:8 “you received free, give free.” Unlike the money hungry religions of Christendum who claim to do what Christ says but more readily resemble the wicked religious leaders of Jesus day whom he threw out of the temple because of their profiteering. Thanx for pointing that out, that was a good point: THEY ARE FREE !!!
Also worth mentioning that in that same month 755,247 people not only actively accepted and read the magazines but they also invited JW’s back to conduct a Bible study with them once or more times a week. So instead of trying to find the quickest way to get rid of the JW’s they continually invite them back for hour long or longer bible discussions where they get their questions finally answered that their clergy told them were just mysteries that we will never know. Oh and by the way those Bible Studies, they are absolutely FREE as well.

Fact #3 Again you are right, but only partially. The work is supported by voluntary donations, but as you so brilliantly pointed out not every one donates that takes the magazines so mostly we cover the costs ourselves so that people can read this most important information. YOUR VERY WELCOME !!!
But here is where you are absolutely lying out your teeth. No one is Required to mention the donation arrangement. We often do not mention it because we would rather pay for it ourselves and people read it than for them to mistake us for just another religion out there trying to get its hands on their money. Oh by the way the meetings or services of JW’s are Totally FREE as well, just sayin…

So to recap you were mostly right thanx fir pointing those things out. As far as the false facts you made up, I only have one question how could you possibly know anything about the resonse people have toward the magazines. Unless you are stalking JW’s. I’ll admit you do seem quite hatefully obsessed with them. But Jesus said there would be some of those. But more likely that is just your opinion about the mags and you are trying to impose your thoughts on “everyone” else. Either way your hidden agenda is obviously one full of hate. You’d be much happier if you tried to love others instead. Just sayin…

  2. Angus says:

The Awake! statement about the generation of 1914 is funny. That must mean we are now living in the peaceful new world.

    • salsame says:

It’s apparent you don’t read the Bible and what it says about this….You just probably accept peoples negativity as truth…If you are or want to know he truth about a matter to satisfy your own beliefs it takes looking in to it…study and knowledge of God’s Word..The Bible… people who are searching for the truth find it…they do not judge.or condemn on hearsay.

    • Louie says:

No 1914 was not supposed to be the end but rather the beginning of the last days before the end. Just in case you wanted to know the accurate facts.

    • Les says:

No it doesn’t. Instead of jumping to the wrong conclusion, why not attend meetings conducted by the Jehovah Witnesses and find out what they really believe and how they come to that conclusion from the Bible. I’ve attend a lot of their meetings now as I have many of other religious organisations and my conclusion is that they are the most honest and dedicated.

Even if you don’t believe in God, if every person on this planet followed the guidance in the Bible and treated their fellow humans as per that guidance then there would be worldwide peace. However, the majority of mankind is too greedy and selfish to put other first – to many want to dominate others instead.

    • Dennis Gilman says:

Wrong again. Get your facts straight. Go ask the next Witness you encounter.

    • Sammy says:

Are you trying to argue? I have no idea what your comment means. 1914 is funny? Why is that? It seems you are trying to say something sarcastic, mean or cutting but not communicating your wit with desired effect.

    • Louie says:

No the Last Days before Armageddon. Then the New World. Stay Tuned..,

  3. Vickey says:

The most popular magazines of 2013, the number one is the Watchtower, :>

    • You're Welcome says:

Read the description above with detail:

They are published in various languages and millions of copies are CIRCULATED around the World. Also, magazines with international CIRCULATION allow stories and ideas to travel across the globe. This list of top 10 most popular magazines is BASED on their respective CIRCULATION, a variable which is reflective of their popularity.

NEVER once does it day “people’s choice, favorite, or most requested”

      just FYI 😉

      • Lissa says:

In case you hadn’t noticed these are 2 of the most downloaded mags..from online magazine software. So apparently, they are very much wanted.

  4. Deb Walker says:

Top 10 mags 1 and 2 right on!!! Yes, most informative I’ve ever read. Don’t try to push a man’s thoughts or beliefs but always take you to God’s and back everything said by the Bible scriptures, I appreciate that. Written in a way that I can both understand but at the same time keeps my attention, in every issue. Thank you for all your hard work in publishing them and for recognizing their value. Deb

    • Bob says:

My dear lady. It sounds as if you really enjoy the magazines. Have you thought about attending the meetings and possibly having a personal study?

  5. John says:

The Watchtower and Awake are amazing magazines in world where such few things have value when you sit to read them. Great articles and you learn about the bible. Not many people read and understand the bible and these magazines explain things that you can find in your own bible without a complicated doctrine veiled of “tradition”.

    • Mark Nutt says:

The Watchtower and Awake magazines are boring as hell, scientifically inaccurate cult promotion devices that aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on.

      • JAY says:

If the watchtower and awake magazines are “boring as hell” and “scientifically inaccurate” and “cult promotion device”s (which they are none of the 3 mentioned) then why are they number 1 and 2 on the list? If they’re so boring and inaccurate then why are they above People, Game Informer, etc? And they’re totally free, have the best information you could possibly ever learn, and are VERY accurate. The watchtower especially has been around for over 100 years. What other magazine has been printed by the same people, and has continued to be so successful since 1879? And even more so printed in over 200 languages? Nothing compares, so stop being ignorant and saying stupid things that are obviously wrong.

        • Matt Smith says:

Read the top of the page. It’s based on circulation, not on amount of readers or quality of content. After all, printing a lot of free magazines and tossing them everywhere is still circulation.

Mark Nutt is right, though. The content of the magazines is scientifically incredibly inaccurate and is quite blatantly pushing an agenda.

          • Henry Busby says:

Perhaps you will put more faith in a secular organization such as PBS who has done in depth investigation into the practices of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Here are but a few truths and myths. More study will inform you that many within the scientific community have great appreciation for the teachings of the organization.

        • Tony says:

I promise you, if People or Game Informer were free and dumped in bulk at laundromats around the world – they’d be far more “popular”. I’d be willing to bet more copies end up in landfills around the world than in the hands of people who actually want to read them.

          • Ada says:

If People and Game were free, would they be published monthly and in 209 languages for decades and decades? And will u see more 7,000,000 people who would be willing to go and distribute them without being paid?

          • Jonathan says:

If Game Informer is given free, without any advertisements or whatsoever, it will not last for a long time. The Watchtower and Awake magazines are given free and does not contain any advertisements. Did you wonder how 80+ million copies a month are being funded? Most JWs are not rich people. So its just a miracle how the publication of these 2 magazines are being funded!

        • LISA SMITH says:

well don’t we sound a little bitter. There are millions plus millions of Testigo de Jahova, plus we have millions plus millions of people want us to come to study with them, plus we have millions who scribes love reading our magazines but don’t want to belong to a religion, you do the math. I love reading my Spanish watchtower magazines. You learn about others culture, country, and nature besides learning how to raise up children in this hard core world. The fact is all who read these Magazines will become my intelligent and have a piece of mind. maybe that why you don’t see Testigo de Jehova robbing people. Of course if I set my mine to hate this magazine and Testigo de Jehova am going to stay focus and hate these magzine and Testigo de Jehova. However if I’m going to set my mind to examine for myself if I like These magazine and Testigo de Jehova I will have a open mind.

      • Peter says:

Says Mark Nutt so it must be true especially the scientifically inaccurate aspects. You must be a real scientist!!

        • Matt Smith says:

You could ask a scientist what they think of what the JW publications say. I guarantee you that they won’t be very happy. I mean, evolution denialism, literalism (with the exception of day-age creationism). It is pretty poor.

      • AvidReader says:

Mark, what magazines do you read? Are they full of advertising that you like? Do they educate you, help you to be a better person, give you peace of mind, allow you to contribute to the community, give you reason to show respect for others? They may be boring to you but they are not inaccurate. On that point check where the information for many of the articles comes from, you will be surprised. That’s a challenge for you.

      • Helen says:

Mark: I fell sorry for people like you. This is why the world is like this. The Witnesses are just try to save people like you who follow false religion or no religion at all. They are not a cult, Maybe you should talk to one of them before you open your. mouth!

        • Mark Nutt says:

I challenge you to do the same. I was a Jehovah’s Witness for 17 years before I took a critical look at Witness literature. I know the Witness stance on apostates and I’m not trying to make you lose faith in anything but I’ve done hours and hours of research into the content and sources of these magazines and am intimately familiar with Witness reasoning and beliefs.

          • MacCane says:

Oh, ok, now your coming clean Mark. Keep researching and never finding but bitterness…or publish your own well researched magazine. Maybe it will be number 1 or 2 next year.

          • John says:

Mark, if you spend hours and hours searching in darkness and emptiness than of course you won’t find any light, you will only find darkness. The watchtower and awake have been proven accurate on many many levels, by thousands of individuals who do not share the witnesses beliefs but can’t argue the facts the magazines bring out. This includes doctors, scientist, and countless more. And if they were to by chance print something incorrectly, then they will publish a correction and own up to the mistake, though their errors are very very few and far between. If you have strong beliefs that’s fine, but to deny the beauty of a rose because you don’t see it yourself doesn’t change the fact that a rose is beautiful, likewise it is clear evidence that the watchtower and bible tract society has something to offer because they have to print 45million or more, so it may not be your preference, but clearly the majority would disagree.

          • Cheleece says:

Clearly you aren’t because you wouldn’t try to put the information down. It’s all about your heart, open your heart and mind and maybe you may learn something. I left the TRUTH and came back…yes came back. Jehovah’s organization is not all I knew but it’s now my only way of life.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience or don’t understand the true meaning of the TRUE religion. I hope and pray that Jehovah will open your heart and your ears for the future.

Paradise awaits all of us…including you Mark Nutt

          • KES says:

there’s almost 8 million that have done hours and hours of research into the content and the source (the Bible, itself) and are very intimately familiar with it. There can be a difference in taking on the responsibilities and living according to those standards that some have a problem with

          • Bruce Wayne says:

I now see the reason why you believe the magazines are not to your tasting. You made your choice not to be witness, that is fine.

            Have a great day.

          • Obz3rv3r2u says:

I have been one for over forty. Obviously you spent more time “being critical” than doing actual study.

          • salsame says:

Then you know that Almighty God , Jehovah is looking for sheep-like persons who are sighing and weeping , who are searching for him, and WANT to willingly serve him.You apparently know that…you do not want that…you slapped Jehovah in the face. But you know what he forgives you for that. And he is always waiting for the prodigal son to return to him. Jehovah is a loving and forgiving Father to all of us.

          • Ntosh says:

Pal it seems that you could not match the standard and you decided to be then witness. so for seventeen, seventeen years then after you realise that it’s thrash which means there is something wrong with your mentality being blind for seventeen years. surely there is something wrong with your power of reasoning.

      • Katrina Williams says:

FYI: A cult is considered as something easy to get into and extremely hard to get out of. I am not currently a Jehovah’s Witness but one thing that I know is that you have to live a truly Bible Based life as close to Jesus as possible but the most amazing thing is that if you want out just leave, tell the Cong. that you do not wish to be affiliated with or being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and no problem…You are your own person. You have free will. Think about the words you chose and make sure you know what it means -Cult- Look up the word. And BTW no one ever asked you to continue reading the magazines. Can you say No.

        • Louie says:

Katrina you sound pretty passionate. Maybe you should so the reverse and talk to the congregation and return. I did 3 years ago and was overwhelmed with the love and warm hugs from the congregation, many of whom I had never known before and who never knew me before I left. The time left is reduced and I hope you don’t wait too long. There is time like Now to do something about it. Prove Satan and these negative people wrong and shiw the world what you seem to feel in your heart. Hugs are waiting.

        • Roman Vargas says:

It is extremely hard to get out of and keep your friends and family in tact. That is control of the most disgusting kind to use your family as emotional blackmail to keep you in. Shouldn’t it be about your love for Jehovah?

They control your behavior, the information you receive, tell you what to think, and control your emotions.

Cult- look up the word yourself. Wait a Witness can’t, but you’re not so please do.

        • LISA SMITH says:

So that mean you think our Lord Jesus Christ and his disciple are a cult because we base our life by from the bible. we love what Jesus taught us to love and hate what Jesus taught us to hate our rules are base exact and precisely from the bible. Our teaching is from the bible and the teaching of everlasting life use your own bible John 2:16; John 10:27; John 11:25, 26; 1Corinthians 15:26; 2 Timothy 3:1-5; To give just a little. we following Jesus steps our leader is Jesus Christ ,so you are saying Jesus is a cult. Prove what you say when you see the next Testigo de Jehova (Jehovah Witness) prove to them that what they say and do is not from the bible if you can. That way you can accurately say you prove it’s not from the bible and not copy someone else words.

        • Beth says:

hey brothers and sisters these Apostates love to find something good and turn it into something ugly and bad they are mad and unhappy they Hate Jehovah’s organization… there on satan’s side there is no reasoning with them… when they see something great like this they want to put down I don’t see them putting down people Mag. come on give it up your all going to loose your life to satan’s wicked world and you know it that is why your so bitter and angry sooo sad something made you leave Jah hope you turn around… but I wont waste my time on Apostates I will keep teaching about the true God Jehovah always…. great mags….. good positive reading

      • Eliam says:

I have been reading this magazines for several years and I couldn’t find any scientifically innacurate statement. As a matter of fact, they have a section to publish readers comments. And if there is any mistake in their statements the publisher make the corrections like others magazines does. I believe you never has read this magazines. You should do it before make false statements.

      • Louie says:

Well Nut i challenge you to find ine single scientific inaccuracy, just one. The best scientific minds have tried and had to recognize their complete accuracy. As far as boring, if your idea of fun reading is the violent immoral filth that permeates this world then i’m sure they are quite boring to you. But for decent moral people who want accurate info on a variety of subjects then you will find non better. They are completely non political magazines without the prejudical hate speech that is so common in many other publications. You should ask yourself why there is so much hate directed at this magazine and it publishers who are peaceful loving members of the community that have never attacked you or anyone else. If you unsure of why you and others have so much hate toward them just remember that is exactly what Jesus experienced from those who persecuted and killed him. He also said true christians should expect the same and similar treatment and JW endeavor to respond the same way he did. They hope that in addition to pleasing their creator, that they might dispel the hate and propaganda against them and win over the nay-sayers like yourself. Yes every JW in the world would welcome you as a friend with no hard feelings over your negative comments, even Nuts like yourself. 🙂

        • Roman Vargas says:

Let me guess, you read that in The Watchtower. The overwhelming number of the best scientific minds disagree with The Watchtower and what they publish in other literature about evolution. Not only do the publications misrepresent the cores of evolution to make it “seem” unbelievable(like saying “Why are there still apes if we evolved from them?” Hint: evolution doesn’t teach that at all), they also purposefully misquote these very scientists to try to justify their own beliefs. I know you probably won’t research it yourself, but if you did, you’d see nearly a dozen misquoted in the blue “Creation” book, and most are repeated in the two more recent brocures. It doesn’t even have to be a debate on creation vs evolution. If I say “I really don’t like ice cream”, but you quote me as saying “I really… like ice cream”, there is no doubt you are being deceitful.

There are many nice people that are JW, but your love disappears simply if someone doesnt believe what they did at 11 when they were baptized.

          • LISA SMITH says:

Am sorry you think the Watchtower/Awake magazines and Books is wrong on evolution but speaking from experience threw out all of my school years I took lots of science and I know in all my classes for a fact the teachers or professors taught about evolution that we came from a ape, despite what you said the dictionary say. I dont know maybe you was taught different in school than I was. But how can someone be wrong when they say people teaches “we came from a ape” when they themself talked with people and you was not there to justify the truth. Also in college they taught evolution that we came from a ape depite the fact the professor themselves did not believe in the evolution. So I believe that mean the creation book is correct. Just not in your eyes of course.

          • Jim Kinnaird says:

Ok, so where is it published that an “overwhelming number of the best scientific minds disagree with The Watchtower” and please show proof of what you belief to be misquoted material. If you can show a reference of original quotes that have been misquoted in The Watchtower, then you may have a point. Otherwise what your saying is simply what YOU perceive as fact, but until you show proof, is in fact NOT.

          • Roman Vargas says:

Scientists believe in evolution not creation. The WTBTS believes in creation, thus scientists disagree by default.

Here are some of the misquotes. I realize it is just a blog that anyone could say whatever, but it puts them all in one place to easily see. The individual original sources are out there, you just have to research.

          • Allan says:

            Mr Vargas,

I am a chemist, and a witness as well. I felt with this that I had to put my 2 cents worth in here. When it comes to evolution versus creation, I look at one particular thing, how was life created.? When I work in a laboratory, I mix everything in exact proportions, I control temperatures, pressures, timing (heat times, cooling times etc)… everything is under my control to “create” a chemical. If I’m off on one detail, I get something else, something completely different. How can you explain that everything came together in an “accident” to create “a” ie one amino acid (which is complex in itself). Then when you look at a human, which contains, DNA, RNA and proteins to form life, how can you explain that as an accident. The probabilities involved with all of them created by accident are astronomical, and each human is different. Scientists all have “probable” causes of the beginning of life but they sill cannot explain it completely. Why are we built with the faculty of choice where we can choose to do good or bad. Why werent animals built with this same capability. The bibie explained things in simple detail way before scientists determined that the information within it was correct. The bible describes it in a way that every man can understand, and not only the rocket scientists. Everything in science is based on theory until it can be proven. Theories have been disproven as well as new knowledge comes up, and that is acceptable, but because new understanding about the bible comes up, it is written off by people who dont want to believe. I’d rather believe in a simple world full of piece, love and hope than a complicated world filled with hate, greed and despair. I hope to see you in the new world along with the others who sadly left and will hopefully come back.

      • Debbie says:

Where did you get that information from???Cult promotion??? Let me ask you, Have you ever heard of any cult such as Jim Jones, David Koresh, Hale Bop,Before there was a tradgedy????? They were all definitely Cults.

How much of a Cult could Jehovah’s Witnesses be??? They come right to your door and they’ll tell you anything that you want to know. They have nothing to hide.

      • Dennis Gilman says:

Check your facts before saying that they are scientifically inaccurate. We have very highly qualified and well respected scientists writing and reviewing the scientific articles. I’m talking college professors and persons with PhD’s.

      • Ntosh says:

Mark there is nothing you can do, you too late, these magazines have rated already.

  6. lisa says:

Wow number one and two is free.

    • Ty Weintraub says:

Also, just as the Bible is the most widely available book, the Watchtower and Awake are the most widely available magazines. Since we hear no voice coming from heaven, it makes sense that God’s message would be the most accessible by other means!

  7. satinka says:

Technically, the Awake! and Watchtower magazines are not in the same category as other magazines, because of their marketing system. The Watchtower Society marketing process is delegated out to all the members of the religion who “obediently” to go door-to-door peddling those magazines. The religious order spends no money on paying those marketers. All monies collected goes right into supporting the religious order. So when anyone donates money to the peddlers, they are supporting the Jehovah’s Witnesses religion.

    Thought you might be interested.

    • Eldeejay says:

I know you meant for your statement to be derogatory but it actually says a lot about the organization. And all money does not go towards supporting the religion. The JWs also have an amazing DISASTER RELIEF support system. Just thought you’d like to know.

      • Roman Vargas says:

In the Branch Organization manual chapter 1 page 9 paragraph 90 it talks specifically about “Disaster Relief”. They are supposed to use government and social programs first, then they can get $1000 from the organization. BUT this is specifically NOT supposed to be advertised in the publications even “average” elders are allowed to see.

Of course some take it upon themselves to help others without specific direction from the congregation, but generally just for other Witnesses.

Far from some National “Disaster Relief”

    • Jiphop says:

What is so wrong with that? When I subscribe to any of the other magazines I am supporting them as well. Also the “marketers” are members of the religion who volunteer their time to share good news with their neighbors and encouragement from the Bible. I have family members who are Jehovah’s witnesses and they love doing their preaching. I don’t see any harm.

      • Deb says:

We love doing the preaching work , but we love the people we preach to also. We want to share the hope for the future the Bible has for all persons. However , the only way people can benefit from this hope is if they accept the truths in the Bible and put their faith in the ransom sacrifice provided by Jesus Christ. This entails more than just saying “I’m saved or I believe in Jesus” . What we learn must move us to want to make changes in our lives and to make those changes requires an effort to be made on the part of each individual to learn what the Bible realy teaches and come to love the Creator who provided the Bible and the ransom. How can anyone say they believe in Jesus and not believe in what the Bible teaches? The Bible is where we learned about Jesus.

        • Cassie says:

You got it Deb! And to think that all these people in the world call themselves Christians and don’t even know what the Bible says…..the Bible, the Christian Instruction Manual. If more people took the responsibility to find out just what the Bible says and take in knowledge about it, maybe they would understand more, but that takes responsibility and change and a lot of people are so full of themselves, they refuse to do just that. It’s easier to make up a bunch of malarkey then to get the facts straight. Do the research!

    • stairs says:

they aren’t peddlers. They selflessly, out of love and in imitation of Jesus, spend their own time and resources to help ones who are upset about world conditions and the lack of love or natural affection in it. I think they deserve praise, don’t you? Of course the money you give them goes to the printing of the magazines, they don’t keep it for themselves.

    • valerie says:

The Watchtower and Awake are financially supported by voluntary donations, but mostly sustained by the Jehovah’s Witnesses themselves. Plus, the magazines never have any advertisement of any kind to help sustain they’re financial needs. Plus when we get donations its very rare when someone will donate 50 cents. My parents have been Jehovah Witnesses for over 20 years and out of the times they have gotten donations they can probably count with one hand how many times they have gotten any between themselves.

    • Don says:

..and for your own knowledge, people are advised of this when they donate to this world wide work. It’s not a secret.
      Just an FYI.

    • Steve says:

I’ve talked to them before, and they do that work on a voluntary basis, and only ask for donations. Peddling involves selling for a price. Get your facts straight.

    • Louie says:

Your absoletly right Satinka they do not pay those volunteers, but neither do they charge fir the magazines. They are left without charge to anyone that wants to read them and the truth contained in them. And any donations that are received are used to support this World-wide Bible education work which includes translating and printing these magazines in over 600 languages every single month. This also includes disaster relief and helping our friends and neighbors all over the world. Their world-wide brotherhood crosses all borders and boundaries and includes people of “every nation, tribe and tongue” witout partiality. The “love” that characterizes this group and motivates them in this self-sacrificing group was stated by Jesus to be the identifying mark of true christians in this time of the end. Just thought you might want to know.

    • anne says:

Thanks for reminding me! I forgot they’re printed and delivered by unpaid volunteers. A friend of mine has been giving me these for years. I use the topics on animals in my classes. I’ll have to remember to contribute for them.

    • PLZ929 says:

As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, I thought you would be interested we do not peddler the magazines. We do accept volunteer contributions and that money does go to offset publication costs.

    • TOMA! says:

Sorry but you are sadly mistaken. It is not a “marketing system”. It’s called preaching. It’s non-profit, ordained by Jesus himself. They are not peddlers, all the terms you use are based on sales & marketing. Non of their publications have a price tag on them. That is not the goal. They fund their world wide work primarily themselves(nothing in this world is free). Yes they accept donations (that means its voluntary).
If you ever like to clear any other misconception, why don’t you ever try to actually listen. What they have to say will actually benefit you, your friends and your family!

    • Flor says:

Jehovah’s witness are not peddlers or marketers, they simply volunteer their time willingly and lovingly because they truly believe in the value of the message, the message in this magazine is nothing but, positive and they proudly are a part of it, they simply go looking for those that are interested and in need of comfort from the Scriptures. Being a volunteer work to help others the magazines are free of charge. .. accepting donations by those who kindly offer simply to support the distribution cost. Now, really, what’s so wrong with that? Why must you call them peddlers? Is a person that’s well educated, has a secular work but, volunteers free time to help others a peddler?

    • tonya says:

I laugh because you have no idea what you are talking about…..They are not only distributed from door to door they are also circulated through mail BY THE REQUEST OF ITS RECEIVER!!!!!!!! you can request them and they are mailed to you for free….idiot

    • lenmar41 says:

Read your comment on the factual standing of the watchtower and awake magazines. The term peddler is not an accurate term to use.The witnesses do not peddle, or sell their magazines from door to door, nor do they try to promote a specific cause. When offering the magazines they do so free of charge. They are available to anyone interested in their content via hard copy or on the jw.org website. The magazines offer a bible based, non-discriminatory message. Anyone who volunteerily makes a donation towards the magazines is making a donation to a free bible based education work. Thought you might be interested.

    • MJ says:

“Technically, the Awake and Watchtower magazines are not the same category” HELLO the are free. Have u ever read an Awake? The info in it is as good or better as National Geographic was, there are 43 million readers that enjoy its content, get over it, come of your horse.

    • Keely Wilson says:

The Watchtower and Awake magazines are not peddled they are free so please do not spread false information. It is commandment in the Bible to go out in the ministry as Jehovah Witnesses do. Open your heart, mind and educate yourself with Gods word the Bible. Thought you might need clarity.

    • Mike says:

I have a question. You say the religion makes their members pede the mags how do they get them to do it all for free. 40+ million copies per month is a lot of time spent peddling mags every month. Makes one wonder how such an accomplishment could be done monthly if they are the only ones that can do it. If there ever was a magazine back by god I would say that is a pretty good sign if you ask me.

      • Kay says:

Members are not “made” to distribute the magazines. They do so out of the love they have have for their neighbors. The magazines are not peddled as some falsly claim, but are distributed to those who have an appreciation for spiritual things & they help point ones to “their” copies of the Bible. This is done voluntarly. And the magazines are left with one for a voluntary donation if they have it; if not, it’s left anyway because they want you to read it.

    • Aaron says:

The definition of peddler is “a person that goes from place to place selling small goods”. We as Jehovah’s Witnesses do not sell either the Watchtower nor Awake nor any of our books, videos or tracts. These days only if we are asked how the work is supported will we mention that our work we do is free of charge like the Bible studies we offer, however the work is supported by strictly voluntary contributions if someone is so inclined. Which speaks volumes for our publications that they are supplied free of charge and yet both are the most widely distributed magazines! This truly shows Jehovah the Almighty God is behind our work. How else can this be explained? No other religious nor commercial magazines are close to our distribution level. And we strive tirelessly to continue to widen the reach of our publications and Bible distributions so that the words of Matthew 24:14 will be fulfilled, “this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations…” This and Matthew 28:19&20 where Jesus commanded us to “go therefore and make disciples of people people of all the nations…” Is why we go door to door. We share our Bible based publications with any who will listen in hopes they will want to dig deaper into the Bible so they can see the glorious future God has promised those who follow Him in faith and truth. To do this you must study the Bible and change our lives to live in accord with its teachings so we can truly be pleasing to God. This is our message and this is why we come to your door. We want to show how practical the Bible is how if you don’t jump to conclusions you will see we do not peddle for money but rather we long to share the glory of the supreme God Jehovah with all who long for truth and a solid hope for the future.

    • anil says:

50 years ago you may have used the word ‘peddling’ as people had to contribute in cash or kind to manifest they were appreciative of what they received and would make use of it.
This ‘peddling’ was not by jobless agents but respectable educated volunteers who were convinced that the materiel in ‘these advertisement free journals’ would benefit those who cared to absorb the information in them. Even when it was distributed in this manner it led the field [around 3.5 million 50 yrs ago]and it continues to lead 50 years later when no one could justifiably call those who distribute these magazine voluntarily free of any charge only to those willing to examine it’s contents, peddlers any longer. Sadly many are prejudiced towards their work and envious of it’s success. Anil

    • Simonne says:

The money donated by householders is not for the magazines, satina, it is for the world-wide work we do. However, this donation does not sustain our work. We, the obedient members who do what Jesus Christ said in Matthew 24:14, are the ones who financially support this life-saving work throughout the world. We all know, though, that it is Jehovah God who is the One who really sustains this labor through His spirit. Thought you might be interested.

    • Felicity Lennox says:

Please check your facts before you make statements like that:
      1. The definition of magazines from the opening of the article. 2. ‘Peddling’ magazines is incorrect as all magazines offered to the public are ‘without cost’! 3. Christian witnesses offer their time and energies free of charge to ‘distribute’ the magazines to genuine people, many of whom regularly and happily receive them. 4, Any voluntary ‘donations’ made are to cover the cost of printing and goes towards a worldwide fund for distributing to all corners of the earth.

    • Lloyd Patten says:

We do not do this under duress, in fact we do this freely and with a joyful heart (2nd Corinthians chapter 9 verse 7) at the same time holding down a 9-5.
Logistically, ordinary people perform a great work that any major organization would find impossible to achieve… In nearly 100 different languages
The religious order that you refer to is called the Worldwide Preaching work which is a commandment given by Jesus at Matthew 28 verse 19
In this world today (2nd Timothy chapter 3, verses 1-7) instead of finding fault… why not… rejoice and think… In this earth, right now, there are millions of people who prefer to zealously give up their time for pure worship and are prepared to help their fellow man to come to know the truth. In fact it is a signification to me that Jehovah finds me worthy to offer me this privilege.
As with anything, people are not fools, if the magazines were not good the circulation of each would not reach 45 million… where does the money come from… how do they do it?

    • JoJoMo says:

How typical that someone uses the word “peddler”, no one forces them to do. They do it voluntary of their own free will. Even they themselves, donate to this global work. They are not under any compunction.

Can any other religion make the same claims or go through all that extraordinary effort? Plus, look at what their motives are. I think these great magazines speak for themselves and these “peddlers” ask for nothing because they have the ultimate reward….their heavenly father’s approval for doing what the bible commands them to do.

    • Russ Mohr says:

Yes Satinka the Witnesses do not get paid but what they collect is specified to the recipient that any amount paid is a donation and not a charge – all their material is free including Bibles and other printed material. Accepting the magazines or any other material is at the option of the recipiant. Thought you might want to know this.

    • Flor says:

Jehovah’s witnesses are not peddlers or marketers, they volunteer their time willingly and lovingly because they truly believe in the value of the message, the message in this magazine is nothing but, positive and they proudly are a part of it, they simply go looking for those that are interested and in need of comfort from the Scriptures. Being a volunteer work to help others, the magazines are free of charge… accepting donations by those who kindly offer, simply to help with the distribution cost… Now, really, what’s so wrong with that? Why must you call them peddlers? Is a person that’s well educated, has a secular work but, volunteers free time to help others a peddler? really?

    • T! says:

When you say peddling it refers to selling and they don’t sell door to door the spread good news!

    • Bethany says:

Doesn’t matter how its being done it is still number one and two , and people don’t have to volunteer their time to produce these but they do, that’s why it’s volunteer work ..Never in the World will you find this , just gives evidence there’s a Higher Power behind it…

    • trillium says:

Actually, with all due respect…the donations for literature go specifically to supporting printing of more literature. There are different voluntary contribution boxes in the front and back of Kingdom Halls (where Jehovah’s Witnesses meet for their worship) that are clearly marked according to what the money will be allocated for. Obviously the organization cannot produce the 2 most widely circulated magazines in the world with no cost incurred, so that is kept in mind by everyone involved…and most Jehovah’s Witnesses make donations (completely voluntary and anonymous) to support this work. But if you have no money for donations, then you do not donate. And no one even knows. Honestly I have to say it is offensive to me to be called a “peddler”. A “peddler” is someone who travels around selling questionable goods to make a living. It also carries the negative connotation of dishonesty or illegal activity. There is no “marketing process”. Nothing is being sold, so how could there be a “marketing process”? This is simply not the case. No one is required to spend any particular amount of time in preaching…it is all done voluntarily. No one is required to pay a tithe…it is all done voluntarily and anonymously.

    • John says:

Satinka, and your point? You must realize how ridiculously childish and butthurt you sound with that ridiculous post. They don’t “peddle”. They offer (don’t sell) to anyone interested in reading them, free of charge. If you don’t want to pay you don’t. I never do, but find them thoroughly engaging, informative and researched. Plus it gives something positive to read about God in a corrupt world. I think the fact they are published in 209 languages and distributed in 235 lands on a donation basis makes it even more impressive. Can Time do that? National Geographic? Your Butthurt magazine?

So instead if writing a childish post that makes you sound like a jealous stepbrother stomping their feet in the corner because their big brother won something and they didn’t, you should pick up a pair and read them. You might actually learn something. Idiot.

    • AvidReader says:

You are right Satinka, these magazines are not in the same category. They are distributed by volunteers to interested people that see the valuable information published in them.
The meaning of a peddler is: One who travels about selling wares for a living.
This is not the case with these volunteers, they choose to be obedient to the commandment given in the Bible, imitating Jesus when he was on the earth to go to the people with the good news Jehovah has for them. Everyone has opportunity to receive these with no prejudice of who you are or what you believe. Yes they are free. Never the less they still are no 1& 2. I hope this helps clarify things for you.

    • Alec Corday says:

Not sure I agree with your category classification. The above list is based on their respective circulation, a variable reflective of their popularity and as such it includes any form of read magazine, regardless of their marketing. While the fact that the magazines are being taken from door to door, are available at their own magazine stands, for eBook readers and in audio format is correct, how is that any different from other magazines?

Technically speaking the JWs are a periodical publisher that organized its readers and became accepted as being a religion of sorts. Up until 25 years ago both the WT and the Awake were ‘sold’ for cost. It was later decided that it was possible to give them out for free, using only the donations to cover the production value. Residues of the magazine donations may be used for emergency relief work or missionary support. While you are correct that the JWs like to go from door to door offering the magazines, they do not charge for them nor force them on anyone, hence the term ‘peddlers’ is very inaccurate since it implies ‘selling’ or ‘hawking’. I don’t mind you using a pejorative term, but at least use an accurate one.

By the way, Jehovah’s Witnesses are not a religious order. They’re barely a religion. As mentioned above, they originated from a publisher that organized its readers. While they do consider themselves a religion and are as such seen as one, they do not actually fit into the legal classification or category of a religion, since they lack a laity, clergy, holy places, etc. They don’t even believe in creationism. Hence their legal entity is a non-profit organization.

      Thought you might be interested.

      ‘Obediently’ yours,

      • AvidReader says:

Could you please clarify the legal classification or category of a religion?

      • HKBritt says:

When Jehovah Witnesses “sold” their magazines, they were “sold” for 10 cents a copy. Or the magazines where traded for any food stuff the householder had to offer in exchange for the magazines. Whatever the householder’s heart moved him/her to give for the privilege of reading the most important message in the world, an egg, baked bread, anything. It was taken to get the message in the hands of honest hearted persons.

      • Flor says:

Alec Corday- What’s the definition of religion? I suggest you look it up and educate yourself before you go around saying that Jehovah’s Witnesses are barely a religion… Also, looks like you don’t know the definition of creationism so I’m going to give it to you- “The belief that the universe and living organisms originate from specific acts of divine creation, as in the biblical account” If you look at Jehovah’s Witnesses literature they do believe in creation by God, after all we worship Jehovah God, so that statement is plain 100% wrong. Also, another wrong statement , that Jehovah’s Witnesses originated from a publisher that organized it’s readers? really? One thing that sets Jehovah’s Witnesses apart is that they apply bible counsel and believe that the entire Bible is the inspired word of God, and instead of adhering to a creed based on human tradition, or any human they hold to the Bible as the standard for all their beliefs, which takes me back to creation, creation is a Bible based belief hence, Jehovah’s Witnesses believe in Creation…

    • E. Castillo says:

For your information that organization does not depend on the public’s donation, their own members support it and that is the number one reason they are successful worldwide. I would not use the word “peddlers” because that term is refers to people who sale at retail according to the dictionary and this organization does not sale the magazines, they are “Free” to those who would like to read them. Biblical education is a very needy thing in this society with so much lack of spirituality. I am glad still there are a few that invest their very own time and resources to help others to know God’s Word.

    • becster says:

No one obediently does the work they do it because they want to they love what they do and they do not get paid for there work and they are doing what Jesus said to do in the Bible does you religion do it probably not because they are the only one religion that does so the only ones are them that do as the bible says not even the chatholics do it and they say they are so close to god. Also when you buy something from any store you are supporting them because you gave them your money. Thought you might be intrested in knowing that.

    • Debbie says:

It would really be silly for us to go door to door as “Peddler’s” of our religion. When the Bible plainly states at 2 Corinthians 2:17…For we are not peddlers of the word of God as many men are, but as out of sincerity, yes, as sent from God, under God’s view, in company with Christ,we are speaking.

So many people have so many misconceptions about J.w.’s as did I at one time. But, I ;m glad that I started to work for one. I had been searching and asking questions of all different religions. When I asked my boss a question, she was the only one that said bring YOUR Bible honey, and I will show you the answer. I was a little dubious. Yet, she answered every question with a scripture. Something that no priest, minister, or deacon ever did.

    • Gina says:

A peddler is one who offers merchandise for sale along the street or from door to door. Since the magazines are “free” and not for “sale” that does not make the JWs peddlers. Since the bible says “you received free, give free” and “…we are not peddlers of the word of God, as many men are…” and the witnesses strive to live their lives in harmony with “the word of God”, the magazines are free. If you wish to donate to help support the printing cost you may, but it is not a requirement. We go from door to not because we are forced to, but because we love Jehovah and want everyone to know who he really is.

    • Michael says:

To peddle means to hawk. To hawk means to offer for sale. Jehovahs’ Witnesses neither peddle nor are haekers. They do not ask for money as what they offer no money can buy

  8. Edna Conley says:

All over the world our system of getting Bibles, tracts, magazines, books, booklets, and videos into the hands of the public, works. The greatest educational work in the world. The world says so.. Edna conley

  9. Boitshoko says:

Poor Satinka! Stop embarrassing yourself. Its a hard pill to swallow obviously. But some things cannot be argued. These are cold hard facts. Awake and Watchtower are the most widely circulated and the most translated and this website is not the only one saying that.

  10. Jim says:

The Watchtower and Awake are given to anyone who wants to read it. There is no monetary obligation to the reader. Donations are accepted, but not obligatory. One who freely distributes an item without requesting money is not a ‘peddler’.

  11. Rita Whitmire says:

To satinka..I’m not surprised the w/t and awake made it to #1&2.. the information inside them improves the quality of anyone’s personal life if adhered to..it contain’s guidelines to improve a failing marriage, how to raise respectful children, to improve one’s moral standards to that of the Bible, respect authority, just to name a few, but, most of all to acknowledge who God is and what He has in store for mankind. The magazine’s encourage people to read the Bible more so that if they adhered their lives to the Bible’s standards we wouldn’t have all the corrupt and badness we have to suffer every day. Thought YOU might be interested. So before you judge them, maybe you ought to read what they are REALLY about and not be given such a bad rap!!.

  12. Heidi says:

Actually Jehovah’s Witnesses are not classified as peddlers because they don’t sell anything or ask for money. 2 Corinthians 2:17

  13. Melissa says:

Actually Satinka, your wrong. There is no “marketing” system. The door to door thing is not in accord with a “religious order” and JW’s don’t go door to door to bc they are some drones that are told to do so and I could seriously break down every sentence you wrote as to why and how it’s wrong and I’m not even a JW. I’m just an open mind who is actually educated properly.
After the Miley Cirus circus I just saw on the awards the world needs some positive moral guidelines. I’d rather my kids read a watchtower or awake than to watch tv or pick up a mag that glorifies those crap load of pathetic examples like Miley and other people that are put up as examples for youth or people to emulate. Just saying….

  14. Joe says:

The watchtower and Awake have so many different subjects its amazing, plants ,countries, animals , science , history, articles to help teenagers , parents, couples, medical! Its worth reading theres something for everyone. And rich or poor anyone could have them for free!

  15. digital_dreamer says:

These “peddlers,” of which you speak ill of, do so _willingly_ and with a generous heart. Why? Because they want others to know and understand what they have discovered through their own studies. No one is expected or obligated to share this life-saving information and support the tremendous work involved. But, once one has learned the _truth_ about why they are here on this earth and what, if any, future exists for its downtrodden inhabitants, they feel compelled, not to keep such information to themselves, but spread it far and wide.

This response is in line with Jesus’ own words: ‘ You received free, give free.’ (Matt. 10:8)

This “marketing system” is not a new approach — it was first put in place by Jesus himself and he prophetically declared, “And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” (Matt. 24:14)
That coming kingdom is the government that will bring an end to ALL of mankind’s problems, including death itself. That is worth sharing for free.

I no doubt speak for the millions of my fellow workers: None of us wish to be paid in worldly currency. The work is its own reward.

  16. beejay says:

In response to satinka, why can’t Awake and Watchtower be counted in the same category as the other magazines?! Is it because it is free and donations are voluntary?! Or is it because it is religious?! And talking about peddlers, from a very unbiased perspective, I do think you should look up the meaning of the word peddler and then, probably, you might reconsider that tag you’ve attached to these people.

  17. Melissa says:

To those of you who are unaware, the Watchtower and Awake magazines are bible based journals put together by individuals that lovingly devote their time and energy to spread the good news. These individual are all volunteers. Then, they are distributed by others who also devote their time and energy to search out ones willing to listen. The magazines are informative and up-to-date with world events. They also contain interesting articles for all ages, young and old. Jehovah’s Witnesses go door to door to spread the good news of Jehovah’s Kingdom.
That is what everyone prays for in the model prayer.( no matter what religion they are.)
Some repeat the prayer, but never ponder or research what that means. If you have ever had unanswered questions you can rest assure that you can find them at jw.org
Have a great day people. And thanks for taking the time to read my comment.

  18. James says:

Interesting how you used the word Peddler [Satinka] “to sell as one travels from place to place”
As far back as i know The Watchtower has always been FREE, whereas all the other magazines in his list have a cover charge. You would be correct to apply this term to commerce, but not to The Watchtower Society. As to where the money goes when it lines a businessman pocket, where is the benefit but to his family alone! Whereas the money spent on research, printing, transport etc, to give back to the world practical solutions to everyday life…
Wake UP Mate! They do more to help people cope with real life problems than reading about rags to riches, who wears more make-up or the complete guide to how to kill a small nation before your pizza arrives.
Think about that… if your truely interested.

  19. José says:

As a Jehovah’s Witness I am not told to peddle any literature from door to door. I am abligated by my faith in Jesus and Jehovah to teach about Gods soon to come Kingdom. These magazines have impacted my faith in Jehovah so much that my love for him and my neighbor push me to bring good news about his kingdom soon to come. I encourge all to listen to what we say door to door and to read these great magazines, they are #1 and #2 for a real good reason.

  20. Judith says:

I think I’d rather donate to the Watchtower and Awake publishers than fill the pockets of the greedy publishers of the other 8

  21. Tracey says:

The magazines are free. Donations help in the cost of printing the magazines.
Peddling???? Jehovah’s Witnesses are not peddling the magazines. They do not go from door to door selling these magazines. They are offered free to anyone who is interested in reading them. If one donates they do so because they want to donate.
All witnesses volunteer their time, energy and give donations from their heart. They do this out of love for their grand creator Jehovah and for love of neighbor.

  22. Mark Nutt says:

The Watchtower and Awake magazines should not qualify for this article. It is mandatory for Jehovah’s Witnesses to distribute them and about 90% end up in the garbage immediately.

    • AvidReader says:

Mark, where is your proof of statistics that ‘about 90% end up in the garbage’? Are you a garbage collector? Interesting you say it is mandatory to distribute them, where did you learn that from? One day ask a faithful Jehovah’s Witness that statement.

      • Russ Mohr says:

He has to be a gabage collector otherwise where could he get the statistics to say such a thing. No offence to the real gabage collectors, you guys do a great job and I never saw any of you rumaging through the gabage to find old magazines all except for this guy..

    • oliver says:

thats a pretty inaccurate “fact” .

    • DD says:

Actually, Jehovah’s Witnesses try to determine if the person will actually Read the Watchtower and Awake magazines before they will leave them with people.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are instructed to ask people if they will read them,
and if they Don’t say Yes, then the magazines will not be left with that particular person, but instead will simply share an encouraging Scripture with that person.
Jesus himself said: “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet…”
So, Jehovah’s Witnesses are instructed to not be wasteful with the magazines, and to first acertain if people will actually read them.
The Watchtower and Awake are like precious pearls, and are not handed-out indiscriminately.
So, while a few may be thrown away without reading, I’m sure no more are thrown out than any other magazine.
And the fact that they made it to the # 1 and # 2 slot on the Top-10 shows that Many people think they are precious, and worthy of reading.

    • MJ says:

You must be pleased to get such a response concerning your opinion, that is what it is a opinion, looking at it a second time, it is not worthy of any response, since your comments where made with the goal of spreading poison, I still want to be polite, have a good day

    • Debbie says:

How does voluntary turn into mandatory???? You can’t force anyone to give of their time and energy, and money to try to do the exact same work that Jesus did, If you could then why don’t I see any other churches at my door????

    • Gina says:

Mark, how can anyone say they are a Jehovah’s Witness if they don’t witness about Jehovah? Even if what you say is true, that 90% of our magazines end up in the garbage, they have been circulated and the person getting it knows what it is. (for you to make a statement like that with such conviction, must mean that you have spent many hours going door to door all over the world to ask everyone what they do with the magazines once they get them. You are such the globe trotter!)There aren’t too many people world wide that do not know what the Watchtower and Awake magazines are, so in that since they are very recognizable. The magazines do qualify for this article because the category looked at is most circulated, not most popular, most to be thrown in the garbage etc… I’m sorry that you are so opposed to what you once were. You are flirting with being like someone else who enjoyed a very close relationship with Jehovah and then turned his back on him, lying to all about who Jehovah and his worshipers are.

    • connor says:

Mark I must say I really do pity you.
Have you visited every bin and trash can in every house to check your theory on where the watchtower and awake magazines end up? I highly doubt it.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses I can tell you so many people take joy in finding out TRUTH and FACT in the publications, we dont want you to take them if you dont want them buddy but dont pusgmh your negative views on othr without fact- which you just dont have. I know I speak for every Jehovah’s Witness across the globe when I say we just want people to be happy and find purpose in life which is what the loving creator of this beautifull complex earth wants. Jehovah god opens up truth to all who desire it- fact backed up by publication and download demand of bible based literature. Work it out. All the best 🙂

  23. MP says:

The Awake magazines are so informative, love them for school projects!

  24. Clearly says:

    Not surprising, really.
Actually, the ‘voluntary donations’ received by the Witnesses go right back into translating and printing bibles and spiritual literature that shares the Blbles message which changes peoples lives for the better. Any JW that has wealth of any sort didn’t get it from the ‘church’ or their involvement in it. They don’t have paid ministers. They don’t pass a plate. Even their blble conventions are entirely FREE to anyone to attend.
Show me another magazine that has been printed for so long, translated into so many languages, and distributed for free to any who want it. What other magazine gets delivered to your door for free? No postage necessary. Must be some reason why it’s so successful.
If #s 3-10 tried that business plan (no paid advertisements either) they’d be out of business.

  25. sum1 who nose says:

Thought you might like to know that all ‘marketers’ are more like loving volunteers that give their time to distribute these magazines because they know the information they contain can be of benefit to mankind but it is up to the individual to decide how valuable the info is, also, the money donated goes into making more magazines, this work is a voluntary work and to see that these volunteers efforts has taken the magazines to the top two spots is so awesome, welldpne everyone!!!

  26. reuben says:

I don’t think peddlers is the right word for the witnesses. Like was mentioned, their work is voluntary so they don’t get paid for it. Besides the distribution of these magazines is not their primary assignment

  27. Emily says:

In reply to Satinka – The Awake and Watchtower are offered without cost, and the Witnesses are not “peddlers” or “marketers” as that connotes selling. They don’t sell anything. Any donations collected go towards covering printing costs of the same magazines. Don’t try to attribute monetary gain as a motivation.

    Thought you might be interested.

  28. Chacha says:

These magazines are the best I’ve read. The information is taken from the bible, not based on opinions or tradition. Also, whenever someone gives a donation, they’re told how it will be used. So, if someone donates, I think they already know that they’re supporting their worldwide work. I don’t consider them as peddlers. I think it’s commendable they use their time, energy and gas trying to bring the bible’s message to people. So personally I say good job.

  29. Pam McCarty says:

The subject was simply which magazines are the MOST POPULAR. The marketing was not an issue here. It is true that the money that is donated is used to keep the good news of the Kingdom going, throughout the world, so people ARE supporting the work of Jehovah’s Witnesses. It should be comforting to note that none of the money goes for lush life-styles of some CEOs somehere in the upper echelons of the magazines’ publishers, like other magazines! And JWs are not “peddling” the magazines. They are free to anyone who says they will read them.

    • NancyEs says:

To Satinka, who on one hand, evidently has had the opportunity to become familiar with the magazines…that’s good. Our job has been done, and we wouldn’t be “blood guilty”. Sadly, though, very confused. I felt compelled to relate the definition of what a peddler is: by definition a peddler is a person who goes from place to place selling small goods.
A Jehovah’s Witness DO NOT SELL. We have been given commissioned (Matthew 28:18-19) And Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit.
As obedient servants of Jesus, we are the only ones offering good news of comfort, and a hope for a better future.

  30. DA says:

Best things in life are really Free

  31. felipe says:

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not venden magazines, ask for donations and other than some iguinorantes comment, so much so that they even offer free via download at

  32. Bridget, says:

This is the greatest news have heard in a long time. May Jehovah bless the effort of those distributing it. I mean the volunteer worker, they do that without asking anyone to sow seed for them. Thank you very much, I always enjoy reading them.

  33. Sigh says:

I don’t know… Most popular? Is it because a lot of people read it? or because of the volume of of magazines going around? Why are these popular, especially #1 and #2?
I, for one, would agree that #1 and #2 (according to this website) are popular because of the amount of magazines going around, plus its free, and it is required by every practicing JW out there to go out and “spread the good news,” and “truth”. How do they do this? by passing out magazines, books, etc. (Printed by the Watchtower, of course). I believe JW are required to give out magazines (for free) while they are doing door-to-door, so JWs one day they are “reborn” or joined in “Paradise Earth”. Yes, many “wordly” people receive it with respect. But reading it? Its a whole different story. Is this consider “popular”? Just because someone receives it? I think it would be interesting to see the amount of “wordly” people converting to JWs. I believe by doing this one can see the “popularity” of these magazines… no?

    • Louie says:

Well Sigh I agree distribution does not in itself prove people are reading or benefiting from the mags. But according to statistics JWs are the fastest growing religion in the world percentage wise. At between 250,000 to 300,000 a year about 857 new ones making a dedication to Jehovah God and symbolizing that by baptism a day, I’d say the results or “fruits” speak volumes. The WT and Awake are instrumental in reaching these “honest hearted ones.”

As far as the claims that people are “required” to distribute magazines or are trying to earn their salvation through such, these comments are not based in fact. They only show a prejudicial leap to judgement. Prejudice is broken down through accurate knowledge. So the facts are this work is done willingly and out of love for you and all our neighbors. We hope people listen to the positive message of the Good News but that is each person personal decision. Jesus did not give us a quota that had to be filled. We are required by Jesus to inform people and let them make their own mind up. We endeavor to help them make an informed decision, we do not jam it down their throats as other religions did during the crusades and ever since.

So like you said the numbers of those “converting” does emphasize the popularity of these magazines. But an even greater testimony is that the distribution of these magazines is done on such a scale despite great resistance from clergy and religious leaders who instruct their people not to read them, because of how they expose the hypocrisy of such men and their “traditions” rather than adhering to the Bible. In fact in many countries around the world this work is under ban and many face prison, violence and even death for spreading the Good News. Despite this religious and political persecution the work is accomplished and flourishes. Facing such opposition from the Nazis, communists, and so called democratic “free” countries including the US and others did not hamper this work. Facing this opposition from the whole “world” at the same time, the work continued and grew. Only with Jehovah Go’s backing could this be done. Just one example: Imagine printing Bibles and magazines from within a concentration camp under the nose of their SS Nazi captors. Enough to supply a good portion of Europe.

Certainly these magazines and the message the continue to spread has quite an interesting history that, as stated before, could ONLY be accomplished with God’s backing.

      • Roman Vargas says:

You seem to like facts so here’s one. More than 300,000 people are born every day in comparison to the 300,000 baptized in a year. How many of them will never even get to hear “The Truth”? He should make the rocks cry out as a witness to him so that they get a fair chance. That would be more loving, and a more powerful message. Just more innocent babies Jehovah will destroy, which is something you teach as fact.

That’s right. They won’t tell you this when they come to your door people. They believe everyone not a JW, including babies, will be murdered by Jehovah at Armageddon. If you happen by chance to die the day before, you’ll be resurrected and given another chance though. They pray and preach this will happen, and even rejoice in it when they feel persecuted.

        • Sewbie says:

          Uhm… no.
They don’t believe that at all.
They believe that at Armageddon, those deemed righteous by God’s standards will die – JW or not.
It is also not determined what will happened to babies or those lost in miscarriages, but the belief is that god will not leave hearts yearning, so it is hoped that they will be accounted for in some way.
As for babies that have grown into children and anyone else who has not heard the truth or has legitimate reasons for not taking it on – it is in God’s hands to decide what will come of them.
Many people who call themselves JWs will die, and many people who don’t, won’t.
I’m sorry you have been so misinformed. If you’d like more accurate info, I’m sure you know where you could go to find someone who could clear things up.
There’s also jw.org if you’re still confused about JWs believe.

        • ben says:

realy? so we belive that every one that is not a jw will die in armagedon?
we belive that God is a God of love and he wants all people to be saved.
he wants all people to hear his word and be saved. the people who listen and reject Jehovah then will be destroid. but we dont belive only jw’s will be saved you’re wrong and the people who dident get a chance to listen will be given a chance to. cause the bible says. like john 5 28 says
“Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs+ will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life,+ those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.”

so we do not belive that only we will survive amargedon nor only we will be reserected

        • Allan says:

Did Jehovah destroy the Ninivites… even though they were not his chosen people? No, they listened to the prophets and changed, and he “regretted” that he was going to destroy them. Does this mean only witnesses will survive? No, anyone deemed righteous as was stated earlier. Jehovah wants all of us to survive, wants all of us to listen to his word.

Sadly, we are all dealing with imperfect people trying to change who we are for the better. You can see it here in the comments with both witnesses and non witnesses, whether by name calling, judging etc. Whatever caused your reversal to leave Jehovah, I do not know, and all I can hope is that you will find your answer in his word, and that you will come back to him, or at least do what the bible asks you to do. Its a way of life, and the bible an instruction book, and we all can change, hopefully for the better, with tons of examples of right and wrong and how people made choices in each direction and the results, all of which have been proven in history books. If we can get past the imperfections of simple humans, we can take the message of the bible and we will end up in paradise, with love and peace. All forms of political systems have been used in history, leaving humanity in state its in today, The witnesses and the organisation are not perfect, and there will be mistakes made by new followers all the way up to the elders with many years of experience. Harm will come from mistakes just as much as from blatantly doing the opposite of what is written in the bible, and that is why we need to forgive and move on, as our creator forgives us completely and moves on if we really regret what we’ve done. I pray that anyone who has left can objectively look at what happened to cause them to leave (themselves or the imperfections of others) and can pray, read the bible and forgive so that even if they dont believe in the organisation, that they can renew their relationship with Jehovah, although in all my life, ive never seen an organisation as united, peaceful and good willed as the witnesses, so I cannot comprehend why you wouldn’t want to come back.

    • Debbie says:

These magazines are on the top 10 list of downloads. No one is coming to anyone’s door. This must mean that the person who downloads it, really wants to read it.
If someone comes to your door and you are not interested, Just say so, we are okay with that. Don’t take the magazines to just get rid of us. That only makes us think that you are interested, and then we keep coming back!!! Be Honest! We actually invite that. Then we can move on and find the ones who really are sighing and groaning about the world that we live in. They are the ones that want to live in God’s Kingdom, with a government ruled by Jesus Christ.

    • LISA SMITH says:

It is love for Jehovah and our neighbor that motivate every strength in our soul to go door to door. Here in Chicago the weather can sometimes drops below -3 degree and the snow may come up to my thigh with a cold cold wind. If I did not want to go out preaching no one in the world could make me go. Many people have died, even some that was indoors freezing to death. But seeing that look on a person face when they learn something about Jehovah and our king Jesus, that happiness, and joy they show in learn it is priceless. It makes me want to go out early and stay out late. – priceless as our magazine

Oh did you not hear??? J.W is one of the Fastest growing religions in the world….but don’t take my word for it… all you “researchers” check it out for yourself…so somebody must be reading them

  34. Russ Mohr says:

    To Mark Nutt:
It is not mandatory for them to distribute the magazines, some do not even present the magazines but only use the Bible to spread the message of good hope. They do all this without any human command but from what the Bible directs them to do. Wake up you lost this battle.

  35. CTF says:

I find it interesting how many people claim to be Christian but never read the Bible from cover to cover, and some who have claim to have read it but fail to answer basic questions. I have read the Bible, many times and I can’t find any flaws in the Watchtower and Awake magazines. Interesting!!

    • You're Welcome says:

Read Deuteronomy 18:20-23 and be reminded the Watchtower predicted the end of the world 13 times.

AND JWs claim to believe in 1 God but their own bible mentions 2 gods in John 1:1 of the new world translation. Hmmm Interesting

      • Louie says:

Well again a complete lie based on a lack of knowledge of the truth. JW’s do not have the ability to predict the end nor have they EVER claimed to. They knew 1914 was a marked year 38 years before by reading their Bible. Yes some did “hope” this would be the End but never did the organization claim that it was. Some were so disappointed that it was not the end and they failed to listen to the Bible and their brothers reminders that “nobody knows the day and hour…only the Father”, that they lost faith and left. It was their own self emposed expectations that led them astray, and they attempted as humans often so to shift them blame onto others rather than admit their error and learn form it and move forward.

Jws do believe there is only 1 God, Jehovah and he has a som Jesus. Many religions teach that Jesus is not God’s son but God himself and they attempt to use and twist John 1:1 to fit their false teaching. This teaching known as the Trinity was not taught by Jesus or his disciples but no doubt infuriates Jesus who was zealous in making his Father and his Father’s will known, not his own. He clearly submitted to his Father even when the Devil tried to tempt him to make himself equal to God. The trinity is a tool Satan resurrected from ancient Babylon’s pagan belief to cloud the truth of how much of a sacrifice God made in sending his son to die for us. Satan would like Jesus to side with him and desire to be like God as Satan himself desired and as he tempted Adam and Eve to do. But Jesus made it clear he had no desire to promote such independence from God. Those who claim he is God instead of God’s son should carefully search the scriptures and “make sure” of what is true because false teaching like this will lead to Jesus denouncing them as he said “get away from me…I never knew you.”

Rather than promoting 2 Gods, John 1:1 proves their is only 1 true Almighty God, Jehovah and his son Jesus. Note: the word for Almighty God is capitalized where

        • Louie says:

as the other word god is not capitalized because they were 2 different words. The Bible says “there are many gods but only one true God.” Money is referred to as a god as well as even the belly in the case of gluttony. Jesus was a god, a spirit creature but he was not God.

  36. Joel says:

It is a great privilege for me to belong to this worlwide familly of witnesses to sharing a message of comfort and hope. This better my life, make me different from others living a debauchery life.I feel good any time i use my energy and ressources to discuss bible with people from door to door. Witnesses of the world keep moving forward and be focused on ur good job for Jehovah’s glory. Isaie 52:7

  37. Janice Giaco says:

I have been one of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1979. These magazines shed light on the Bible, our real Textbook. Just like the Ethiopian eunuch who said, “really, how could I ever do so (understand scripture) unless someone guided me?” Yes I have been guided in a wonderful way of life since the first time I took the time to read and study using the wonderful publications of the Faithful brothers who with God’s spirit guide us to rivers of waters of Life! I eagerly await each issue, and these publications have made the Bible so much easier to understand.

  38. curtis says:

FYI: the article is entitled “the top 10 most popular magazines of 2013”… just to clarify things a little bit..

    • You're Welcome says:

Read the description, it says based on CIRCULATION.

They are published in various languages and millions of copies are circulated around the World. Also, magazines with international circulation allow stories and ideas to travel across the globe. This list of top 10 most popular magazines is BASED on their respective CIRCULATION, a variable which is reflective of their popularity.

      • Stevie says:

i guess those magazines are pretty popular :0 I think its cool. hmm they must be doing something right to be that popular and give them away for free 😀

  39. Flint Coal says:

To anyone here arguing with the JW readers: arguing with a JW is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good your strategy is or how good your moves are the pigeon’s just gonna knock over all the pieces, sh*t on the board and strut around like its won. So just don’t bother.

    • CTF says:

I would say it sounds like your the pigeon

    • Louie says:

Well it is hard to argue with the truth. And once you know it is the truth how could you be convinced by “artfully contrived” strategies. JWs resist Satan’s “artfully contrived” strategies and yours are no different. Instead of strategizing how to beat them and focus on winning why mot just have a honest conversation about the facts as the Bible portrays them. For example Ezek 18:4 says “the soul that sins dies” yet you try to employ strategy to convince me that the Bible is wrong and that the soul is immortal. The teaching that the soul is immortal was taken from pagan beliefs not the Bible, the Bible is clear the soul dies. So no you can’t argue with that. Interestingly enough that was the same false idea that Satan used to deceive Eve to eat the apple, he said “you will positively not die…but you will be like God.”

I’m not strutting I’m only presenting the facts.

  40. Daniel says:

    Awake and Watchtower? wow…
The magazines are ok, good for families, parents…
they are just good magazines but JW’s wouldn’t accept me as part of their organization cause…

    I was born Gay.

Sad… As JW’s follow the bible principles in a very tight way

    • You're Welcome says:

Daniel, you don’t need approval or acceptance from a man made “religion”. You just need the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Begin praying and asking God for guidance and truth. He will lead you to a church that doesn’t judge what you do but will love you how Jesus loves. Read John 3:16-18. That verse applies all of mankind. That’s why it says “whoever believes!” B blessed Daniel!

      • Louie says:

Your response is no doubt from the heart and well meaning is ignoring what the Bible has to say on the matter. You cannot water down the truth. The Bible stand on this is very clear just as it is very clear that God is avery merciful, forgoving and loving God. He requires obedience though to his laws. This lesson was very clear in the account of Adam and Eve. Those who willfully disobey and ignore these standards “will not inherit God’s kingdom” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11) claiming that this is not important is “taking away from” the scriptures even if well meaning it is still misleading

    • Ware says:

There are many of Jehovah’s Witnesses that have homosexual feelings or tendencies that are accepted because they follow the Bible’s instruction to “flee from fornication” just as those that are “straight” and single are also instructed to do. So that part of it IS a choice if you would like to follow the Bible’s counsel and please God. Others have successfully made that choice and you can too.

    • Louie says:

Daniel that is not true. While the Bible does not condone homosexuality, for example at 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, it does say in verse 11 of that chapter “And yet that what some of you were”. So clearly the Bible shows that people can change and did change as some of those early christians had at one time been involved in homosexuality before becoming Christians. The same is true today, JW do not condone the practice of homosexuality anymore than they do fornication or adultery, but they are willing to help any who desire to bring their life into harmony with the Bible, whether a fornicator, adulterer, or homosexual. There many who have made the decision to do this and are now Jehovah’s Witnesses themselves, and they are just as happy as the rest if us even experiencing the joys of family life with children of their own. Remember God is not cruel, he would not create someone a certain way and then condemn them for being “who they are.” Many of us have made serious mistakes and led lives that were not in harmony with the Bible but Jehovah is just waiting for us to ask for help and due to his loving-kidness he will help.

So yes we do follow the Bible’s principles “in a very tight way” but at the same time not ignoring his commands and laws. The whole purpose of the Bible was to tell us these things that he expects and to help us see how we can put them into practice not just picking the ones that suit us and rejecting the rest.

      • Joen says:

Actually when you read 1 Corinthians 6: 9-10 The list of the unrighteous includes idolaters, adulterers, thieves, greedy persons, drunkards, revilers and extortioners.

Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t let these kinds of people in either unless as verse 11 points out they wash themselves clean and such practices as these are in their past. All of us have had to wash ourselves clean of something to become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. You are no different. Some say that we “hate” gay people. That is wrong. We hate what bad people do. but not them. Would Paul have taken the time to preach and then teach them the truth and help them make the necessary changes if he hated them for what they were? No. We don’t “hate” you for being gay. We want you to make — like those Corinthians — the necessary changes to be approved by God.

        • Allan says:

And you can even look at Paul himself. Saul was a person who was persecuting christians because he thought it was the right thing to do, and when he found the truth on the road, he completely changed his ways, and admitted he had done wrong, but was washed of his crimes and had a clear conciese the nce. that he did right.

I work with 3 homosexuals, and i use the golden rule, treat others the way that you want to be treated. I will not condone their lifestyle, but I wont treat them differently because of it. If they make the choice to become a witness, they will have to change to conform to gods will, either abstaining, or as one mentioned, having a happy family life with a wife/husband of the opposite sex and children.

    • Sewbie says:

Daniel, know that god knows what in your heart, and do what you can to try and follow god.
He will give you strength when you are weak, and forgive you if you are earnest.
This does not mean god does not love homosexuals.
God is more forgiving than any human being could ever be – if you cannot stop practicing what you do, know that god knows your heart better than anyone else, and it is him that will determine who to reach, who to strengthen, and ultimately, who save, or give another chance.

  41. A Girl says:

No offence to you, Mark Nutt ,but if you don’t like what JW’s are teaching and the free hope they give to people, thats no reason to post ugly stuff about them ,let them do what they do and if you don’t like it,leave
it alone, what wrong have they done?

  42. Marcus says:

I find it odd how Jehovah’s Witnesses are taught to not reply to anything negative online, yet here they are, making themselves sound just as bad as the original poster.

    • Ware says:

Generally speaking, Jehovah’s Witnesses are advised as to what is good and best. It is up to each one to apply that advise to specific areas of life as they see fit.

    • Lee says:

Hi Marcus, yes, in an ideal world we wouldn’t get drawn in to a conversation that’s not a good use of our time or positive use of our energies. I guess so many individual people across the globe have different cultures and levels of passion they express in different ways :). That’s what I see here. Nevertheless, is something that would be wonderful for us to keep in mind if / as we reply.

I once heard a little quote I loved… “would you refuse gold if it was delivered to you on the back of a donkey?”. Hopefully the passion of the donkey in some instances (I include myself here!) doesn’t diminish the value of the gold!

  43. You're Welcome says:

if you read the description on top it says its based on CIRCULATION, NOT most favorite or most seeked or requested. Besides the watchtower prints approximately 45 million – that’s slightly bigger than the amount of people in the state of California (to paint a picture of numbers). There’s about 7 billion in this world so that doesn’t even spark a dent in any type of way. All I got to say is do your research people! Read between the lines.

It’s funny how JWs don’t disclose the details on how they predicted the end of the world 13x!! Or how they have a counterfeit bible that distorts God’s true message but Jesus will come and make all things right by revealing to the world who He really is!

Want more info on JWs – see below and begin doing your OWN research… The original Bible warns us on false prophets and warns to stay away!

    What is a Cult?
A cult is a belief system that follows a distorted version of biblical Christianity, mainly focusing on a distorted view of the identity of Christ and the plan of salvation.

    Jehovah’s Witnesses
Charles Taze Russell started this cult. One of the main beliefs of this cult is that only 144,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses will enter heaven. They also believe that Jesus was simply the Archangel Michael, and that the Holy Spirit is simply a force like electricity.

According to Jehovah Witnesses Jesus did not rise from the dead, salvation is not a result of faith, and that the Holy Spirit is not a person of the Trinity. All of these teachings are not in accordance with Scripture and therefore false.
    Thought you’d like to know.

    • CTF says:

I’m just wondering how you are personally fulfilling the scripture in Matthew 24: 14?? Most critics usually put down others but take no personal responsibility in fulfilling this scripture. Interesting.

      • You're Welcome says:

My comment was based on facts, not opinion. Matthew 24:14 is being fulfilled but by true followers of Jesus Christ in faithful churches world wide. Not sure if you know but there’s only approx 7-8 million JWs and there’s approx 2 billion in Christianty. (Google it) and Jesus walked this earth over 2k years ago… Hhhhmmm which one did Jesus start? (Answer is obvious)

Look up what Jesus has to say about imposters/false prophets in the UNchanged bible (Holy Bible). God wrote His word right the first time.. No need for “revised” bibles aka New World Translation.

        Matt. 7:15, Matt. 24:11, 2 Peter 2:1

ABOUT the watchtowers/awake & new world translation bible read 2 PETER 3:15-17.

Hope this helps someone open their eyes but only God has the power to transform minds and hearts.

TRUTH begins with the Holy Bible (#1 book of all time) and church.

        • Louie says:

Yes but claiming to be christian and being christian are 2 very different things. Majority claiming to be christian completely and defiantly ignore Jesus clear command to be no part of the world and to love their enemies instead of killing them. (Matthew 5:38,39,43-48; Rom 12:9-21) Jesus said that he would say to those who claim to be christian but don’t obey “I never knew you! Get away from me, You workers of lawlessness.” (Matthew 7:21-24) he also said in Matthew 7:15-20 that true and false christians would be recognized by the fruit they produce. And in verse 13 he say that the majority would go down the path of destruction and only a smaller number would survive. (Thanks for pointing out who the majority and who the few are, your word not mine)

It is also interesting to note that the apostasy you spoke of would come from within the church after the death of the apostles. This happened and this we had a merging of the “church” and the pagan religion by Constantine in 385. This is when the teaching of the “immortal soul”, “hell fire”, “trinity” and pagan holidays (renamed Easter, Christmas, etc) were first incorporated into the church by these apostate shepherd / “wolves.” You church leaders cannot deny history and these facts but can only try to say they don’t matter. But as you brought out they do matter that is why we were pre warned. We only try to lift the veil of darkness and expose the background of these apostate teachings. And that is why “church” leaders not only kept the scriptures out of the common language of the people but went so far as to burn alive any who attempted to obtain a copy or translate it into the language that people could read. This practice is continued by religions today in many ways. One is by removing God’s personal name Jehovah represented by the tetagrammaton from the scriptures. It appears some 7,000+ times in the original manuscripts but is left only in one or two verses if at all. The most common place that it remains is at Psalms 83:18 (look it up in your Bible). Most translations chose to replace the name Jehovah with either LORD or GOD. So when you see them in all xspital letters that means that is where God’s name used to be until someone decided to hide it. And since Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13-15 show the importance of knowing that name (linking it to our salvation) it begs the question: whose agenda are they pushing Jesus’, who said he came to make that name known (John 17:25-26) or or enemy Satan who doesn’t want anyone to be saved. Read those scriptures objectively, not with a preconceived idea. Think about it, pray about. You need to make sure because you everlasting life depends on having the correct answer or “accurate knowledge” as the Bible calls it.

          • Louie says:

PS Jesus did not say the Good news would be spread in a church. The congregation was for those who were already believers or interested ones found in the ministry. Jesus taught his disciples to go 2 x 2 (Mark 6:7) and from house to house as well as in public (Acts 5:42; 20:20) and he himself did this. JWs follow Jesus direction as he said it would continue until the end (Matthew 28:20) No other religion is willing or able to do this the way Jesus commanded. They have tried but have failed due to not having God’s help and backing. We could not do it on our own but only with his support.

As to the other lies that you are spouting: JWs do firmly belive in the resurrection of Jesus we just don’t dishonor it by linking it to a blood spilling pagan fertility ritual renamed Easter. And salvation does come from faith but accompanied by works.

      • CTF says:

        To: You’re Welcome,

This is why I encourage all to read their Bibles. My friend it’s not about the numbers of people you have in your religion. Remember Noah, how he was a preacher for 40 years and how many people listened to him and got on the boat, or Lot and his family, few were saved. The Bible indicates just like in the Days of Noah and Lot so will our last days be. (Luke 17:26-28) So the Bible clearly indicates it’s not about the number but of true believers, and if those two examples are of any indication I think I would rather be the minority then the majority.

But let’s talk about the 2 billion Christians and what goes into making up these numbers. It’s made up largely of Mormons, Catholics, and Protestants. The Mormons wrote their own bible when the scriptures clearly indicate the Bible is complete and is all you need (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Plus believing in some God that lives on a planet and where they got there name? look it up. The Catholics hardly ever use their bibles, in fact most of what they do are “traditions of men” (Mark 7:13) (Colossians 2:8) Plus the Bible spells it out so clearly that
we are not to call any man “Father” for we have only one Father who is in heaven (Matthew 23:9) The Protestants have 12 sects of Protestantism. The Bible is very clear on this subject in that there should be no division among you. (1 Corinthians 1:10) In fact the Bible say we should keep an eye on the ones who cause division and to avoid them (Romans 16:17) 12 sects is a huge division.

I have to say the biggest issue I have. is with the 2 billion Christians you described, they are missing the whole point of being Christians. The word “Christians” means followers of Christ. (1 Peter 2:21) In fact, to this [course] YOU were called, because even Christ suffered for YOU, leaving YOU a model for YOU to follow his steps closely. Note it says to follow closely in his foot steps. What did Jesus do? He went out teaching and preaching to the world. And by his example of not killing all who came to put him to death, which would have saved his mother and father and friends from the cruelty of the Romans but went willingly with his enemies, not harming them but in fact performing a miracle and healing the ear of the guard that Peter took off. How many of us today could follow his example, if we had all the power in the universe to remove our enemies today,
then to show the ultimate love and not to kill? Jesus taught us He was making a new covenant with his people to not only love his neighbors but now to extent that love to love his enemies too (Matt. 5:43-48) You see Jesus knew he was going to be sending his people out into the 4 corners of the world to preach and teach and if they didn’t learn this basic teaching they would end up fight and killing each other, as in the example of many wars; Civil War, World 1 and 2 the Catholics and Protestants in Ireland killing an estimate 100,000 Christians. Jesus said it is the Love you have for one another that would identify the true believers. (1 John 4:11) (John 13:34-3)5 I am giving YOU a new commandment, that YOU love one another; just as I have loved YOU, that YOU also love one another. 35 By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.” Can you say this is true of the 2 billion Christians you are talking about?

My friend it is by this love for your enemies and for one another that shows the fruit you bear. God is Love and we have to show our love for his teaching by practicing and living in his path. What greater glory then if we are going to die on this earth eventually, what better way then in Jesus foot steps showing love and respect for his teaching.

I hope this helps you to a better understanding of the truth found in the Bible.

PS Take a look at Emperor Constantine in the forth century. He was a pagan head of the church and changed the bible and the bible teaching in many ways. It wasn’t until the Dead Sea scrolls were found to change back the scripture that were tampered with and changed.

    • scottishs says:

Not quite sure where you have gotten your facts but we do believe in the resurection of Jesus. In fact the Memorial of Jesus death is an annual celebration held on NIssan 14.

Do some more research and see who really is a false prophet.

To Mark Nutt and all who are against Jehovah’s Witnesses

No one forces you to read you can and I am sure that either enjoy slamming the door so hard that the house shakes or hide when they knock on the door. If people back in Jesus time refused to listen him what makes you, any of us so different?

So the choice has and will always be yours read or not to read.

Have a great day, for the rain and sun shines for all people?

  45. arcy says:

People of the world listen up, open your ears and your heart before is too late for all of you. Read the number 1 and number 2 magazines. If God supported a magazine on this earth i would expect it to be in first place just like the bible is the most distributed book. I am sure if you give it a chance your heart will be touched.it will give you hope. Do you have anything better to offer?

  46. OnlineName says:

Separating the other issues, it is instructive to logically address the initial question, which was: “Can these magazines legitimately be included on this list?”
Wikipedia lists the number of active Jehovah’s Witnesses as 7.78 million. If you assumed that number were legitimate readers of the magazine, who did not throw it in the garbage, both of the magazines would still be on this list. If we further assumed (as one commenter suggested) that 90% of the remaining number threw it in the garbage, that would still leave over 3 million who did not, and these could be added to that number, placing both very high on this list. Considering there are much larger religions who do not have publications on this list, it is notable that both magazines are there.
Debating the merits of the magazine’s content is different than debating whether these magazines have legitimate circulation numbers for inclusion on this list, which it seems they clearly do.

Brothers, if you were at someone’s door would you call them unkind names? Also, do you realize the ones you are arguing with here are probably disfellowshipped, disassociated or apostate? Do we talk to ones who are not of our sort?

  48. Daniel Issac says:

The Watchtower and Awake articles are unequivocally the most informative, meaningful, insightful, practical, and comforting articles that are in circulation. I find them to be impartial, methodical or well-researched, tactful (non-offensive), and eloquently well-written. Jehovah Witnesses are the most loving and selfless religious intuition in today’s world. Further, their bible education work which includes an enormous amount of philanthropy and volunteerism is supported entirely on voluntary donations. All members are volunteers. What is more, although a donation would be kindly received, there is no charge for their literature. This benevolent expression of their love makes it visibly clear where their intentions lie and what God they serve. There is no secret agenda; they’re simply passionate about helping people not expecting monetary compensation in return. Why, even respected churches (esteemed by people today) require some payment in exchange for their time and services, understandably. The exclusion of an author displays not a spirit of anonymity (free from accountability), but a spirit that personifies humbleness. One who’s chief concern is seeking glory from God and not men. A remarkable organization indeed!

  49. Dan says:

Challenge; prove the Watchtower/Awake magazines wrong in any topic, science, religious/biblical, news, history, etc. Its very simple; YOU CANT. You can say all you want, even your “facts” are opinion, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DISCREADIT THE WATCHTOWER. Its a lot bigger than you. -Dan.

    • Isaac says:

Fact are Facts and Truth is Truth.

The Watchtower and the Awake magazines are the 2 most popular magazines on the planet – period.

The reason: Because they are the only magazines that provides us with good news – about the future of humanity – a divine solution. This world is sick and no one can deny it.

There are bad news everywhere and it does not cut it to the top of popular reasoning. Majority of people are yearning for something good to happen in this world.

We have produced more millionaires than ever before with new inventions for our health, advanced technologies at our finger tips and yet we are killing more and more than ever – turning this planet into a killing field. Its a joke.

May God continue to bless these guys who are publishing these magazines for His divine work to succeed, so mankind would benefit. Amen.

  50. Gino says:

In Noah’s day, many saw the massive construction project of the ark for many years and also the gathering of many animals and people could not make the connection that God was blessing was behind it. So today, this massive preaching work being done, drawing many sheep like ones, in which the circulation of these bible based magazines is just a part of it, should make you think…could God be behind it?

  51. Paul says:

It must also be remembered that many magazines that have large circulation numbers have fewer actual readers. If they are at your local news stand in a market, the vast majority are trashed by the distributor, not bought. Based on Circulation the Watchtower and Awake are the top 2. No one can say how many actually read any magazine nor at what depth.

I think this is great. #1,2 simply displays the prophetic sayings that all will know and have to recognize the name Jehovah as almighty God. This Good news will be preached throughout all the inhabited earth, then the end will come. Goes to show that all this is done in jahs honor and faith without works is dead. Of course the “world ” will hate us, because witnesses are “no part” of this world. This too is prophetic. Stand and have courage, witnesses have done well. Jehovah is proud. Giving an answer to the one taunting him. To respond to negativity is unnecessary, the word speaks and this poll had to mention it. Rejoice this is good.

  54. me. says:

The truth is the truth be proud to be able to recognize it. I am over joyed. The work is voluntary the publications are too. Everyone involved in this Universal work is done by want to. Not force. I am part of this great ororganization .recognizing to make more time “for the more important things” . I am encouraged, proud, and assured. Those who do this preaching work associated in the organization are in jehovahs favor. Please fellow believers do not defend the obvious., take courage as the end draws near. Stay focus if you are in the tent of Jehovah rest assured, No man can attack. We are protect! This is awesome #1, 2. Good job bethelites.

  55. LeRoy says:

I have been a servant of Jehovah all of my life, I am 56 years old. All of the comments I have read has missed one of the main points. Although it has been alluded to, it is the simple act of love that has made all of this possible and of corse, God’s active force. Jesus said at John 13: 34 & 35 that His disciples would be known by the love that they show toward one another. You will never find more love than in the thousands of Jehovah’s Witness congregations around the world. This I believe is fact, but I ask you to find out for yourself. Go, and visit one of our congregations; you can find them in the phonebook. It is only by love that we are able to care out this vast preaching work. I am unable to go from door to door now due to an illness, in fact, I am unable to attend at our meetings, but I am regularly there by another loving provision, a phone hook-up. Even though I am not there, I am not forgotten. And even though I can no longer preach from door to door, I am not shunned either, nor am I made to feel unworthy. We all do what we can.
One person made a comment that we feel only we as Jehovah’s Witnessess will be saved. We have no idea who our God Jehovah will save through these end times. We do not know even if we, individually, will be saved or not; that is why we try our best to please God at all times. Jehovah reads the hearts of mankind. Only by having a heart that God loves will enable us to live in His New Kingdom; only God knows who those individuals are.
And too, the comment was made that the Bible we use is inaccurate. Well, tell that to Alex Trebek, on his show Jeopardy stated that the Bible we use, The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, is the most accurate translation of the Bible by most scholars. Not that this proves anything, but our Bible is far from inaccurate. And our Bible has replaced the name of Jehovah at over 7000 places it should have been, but was removed.
I never make comments. I hope this was helpful.

  56. Ota says:

Very glad I read the watchtower. Informative and truthful magazine, which is based on the Bible.

  57. Allen says:

This whole world is swirling around the drain…it will end soon!! Listen to the witnesses people, they have the truth. Do you think the Catholics do?? Its laughable…

  58. Julie says:

Wow doesn’t anybody have anything to say about the rest of the magazines?
    Very interesting.

  59. Silvia says:

    Hello everybody.
I just spent my day at one of Jehovah’s Witnesses conventions and heard a true life experience of an individual who was given an Awake magazine and she was so intrigued by what she read that she saved it and waited anxiously to find one of Jehovah’s Witnesses to give her more information about the topic and to teach her how to find the scriptures in the Bible. Clearly, based on this experience and many more that we constantly hear about our magazines and our books, some people really enjoy getting them and reading them. And honestly those are the ones we are looking for.
Who wouldn’t wanna know more about a group of ppl from every walk of life and every corner of the world, who incessantly and voluntarily give of their time to spread a message of peace? A ppl that does not go to war no matter what and that try their very best everyday to live their lives to the highest moral standards, those of God! Based on the millions of bible studies conducted every year a lot of ppl still do!

  60. Jese Moroccan says:

This magazine is very interesting, the topics addressed in saving lives, other magazines are also good but in particular these teach you a lot and based directly from the Bible, unlike other religions which are made only to masses and never touch the Bible , if you ask them something they say “is a mystery” and never, ever, touch the name of God in the original language, English, Spanish, whichever, just tell “tHE LORD”…

  61. Nick says:

If some who once were Jehovah’s Witnesses have developped a hatred for them, that Is their own choice. But as to their efforts to have others join them in their views and attitudes, it is rather unfortunate for them. They have failed and will continue to fail for the following recasons:
Gamaliel told the sanhedrin in the 1st century: “but if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them; otherwise, you may perhaps be found fighters actually against God”. (Acts 5: 33 – 39).

The history of Jehovah’s Witnesses testifies to this.

Jehovah’s Witnesses did not request this website (nor any other) to include their magazines in their Top 10 ( and number 1 & 2 as that). Whether they are most popular or not, it has been publised so and will continue to be.

If an organization caries on costly printing of magazines and distributes 88.5 million copies ( for both) each month for free all arround the world and that for decades and continues to stand, that in itself is an unprecedented world record that deserves recognition, praise and commands respect and admiration.

For the past 23 years, I have been reading the Awake and Watchtower magazines. When i go through them each month, I can’t help but marvel at the content of both magazines. And each time I go through them, one question unfailingly comes up: “how do they do do it?” Then I say to myself: “the only explanation to this is that God must be backing them.” I feel starved whenever I fail reading any issue of these magazines.

More grease to your elbow, publishers of the Awake and Watchtower magazines. May Jehovah continue to back you up in your efforts to reach every body everywhere with the good news from God.

Some few can only criticise your efforts. They can’t help any one in any way. At best, they gather peoples, extort money from them under the pretext of performing miracles and then live in shameless luxury. It is all but normal that they are angered and enraged by anything that can threaten their source of incom and their search for fame.

Why did they live the Witnesses? The Bible answers: “they went out from us, but they were not of our sort; for if they had been of our sort, they would have remained with us. But they went out that it might be shown up that not all are of our sort” ( like Judas Iscariot Diotrephes and many others in the first century). (First John 1:19). Since they coudld not satisfy their selfish desires for prominence and riches among Jehova’s Witnesses, they left them and set as their ultimate goal to tarnish their image and misrepresent them.

Their attitude should not come as a surprise, they are just fulfilling this Bible prophecy: “oppressive wolves will enter in among you and will not treat the flock with tenderness, and from among you yourselves, men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.” (Actes 20: 28, 29, 30).

After all, many others have left Jehova’s Witnesses through the years and still haven’t returned. But when asked why they left, they humbly and sincerely answer: “it was above me. I am unable to follow some Bible principles.” To such ones the door to repentance and God’s mercies are largely opened.

As to the others, never mind. The more they lunch their defamatory attacks on Jehovah’s Witnesses, the more the Witnesses will move forward with the wonderfull unprecedented preaching work they are doing. Thus fulfiling Matthiew 24: 14: “And this good news of the Kingdom Will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.”

The Awake! & the Watchtower will continue to be at the top in the future years. Whether they like it or not it will be so. They cannot in any way influence these classifications. Neither can they prevent sincere, honest hearted peoples the world over to benefit from the Bible life saving message that appear in the Watchtower and Awake! Magazines each month.

  62. Kelly says:

Anyone can make an arrangement to visit the factory where these magazines are published. Here in South Africa they have one of the largest printing presses in the Southern Hemisphere.
Something that blew my mind when I visited the press was, how clean and organised it was. Women driving fork lifts (apparently because naturally they are safer and more cautious)
The huge rolls of paper that the machine eats..every 20 or so minutes… Something like 23km of paper ever 20min… That is just the press here in SA. I made a rough guess that that roll of paper must be close on or maybe more than R80 000 each. That is a rather wealthy mans salary for a month here in SA….and that press runs all day. In SA there about 80 000 witnesses here and they can’t afford to put that sort of money into these magazines…it has to come from donations from people who love these magazines… And clearly the press has a non corrupt business ethic. This is my opinion I saw the press and these are my guesstimates.

  63. Frank says:

Please dont reply people who want their comment to be popular by saying very unsavory things about watchtower and awake. They know they cant do anything about its popularity.
You know your work and this is too obvious to allow negative comments to worry you.
    Good job guys.

  64. Nature (Bolivia) says:

There are a lot of people that REQUIRES The Watchtower and Awake EVERY MONTH ……and we commit to take them to their homes as there is a new one….(so is not surprising they are the most circulated) just for make clear we dont give them anyone who is not interested to learn from the Biblie.

  65. Me says:

It shows us the power of our God.

Please tell me if some intellectual can answer us about this question: How could be that the two most populars magazines of the world are free and don’t have even one advertisement of one sponsor ????

Only with the help of our almighty God.

  67. elwalley says:

The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom nor Awake! are “American Magazines”. It is true the the world headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses is located in the United States, but these magazines are printed in several branch offices throughtout the earth, each branch legally established within the laws of it’s respective country. As stated in the mission statement, these 2 magazines are “non political”. Jehovah’s Witnesses consider their worldwide membership to be a brotherhood that transcends all national borders and it is from this perspective that the magazines are written.

  68. Babe, says:

we honour a God whose name is beyond human thinking. Jehovah whose name means he causes to become anything he purposes to be. the watchtower and Awake magazine have survive the test of time with its accuracy, is proved that Jehovah is backing our work. why not find out for yourself
